The Marley Family Expands Licensing Portfolio with Bob Marley Scents for 2025

This is the Marley family’s first foray into scent creation with fragrance house Michael Malul.

Reggae legend Bob Marley’s legacy continues to grow more than 40 years after his death. Recently, Marley’s estate signed a multi-year licensing agreement with American fragrance company Michael Malul.

Six fragrances will launch in early 2025 inclusive of a collection of men’s and women’s scents that will be available in 100 milliliter bottles.

Michael Malul is a US fragrance company with a presence online and in over 2,200 retailers across North America. The company’s portfolio offers an array of men’s, women’s and unisex fragrances.

Michael Malul worked with Givaudan and Firmenich to incorporate “scientifically-backed mood-enhancing technology that activates different areas of the brain,” according to the company.

“Bob Marley’s messages of love, peace and unity are all feelings that are easily evoked through scent. Warm musks and spices mimic the passion of falling in love, fresh plants and flowers conjure up feelings of calm and bright fruits invigorate us in the same way as feeding off of the energy of our friends, families and communities,” said Hanan Malul, CEO of Michael Malul. “The connection between Bob Marley’s legacy and fragrance was clear to our team and we can’t wait to bring it to consumers next year.”

Marley’s Jamaican roots inspired the perfumers to use notes indigenous to or sourced from the island. In the collection, customers will find notes from mango, pineapple and star apple to basil, hibiscus and cinnamon.

“It’s exciting to share my family’s legacy through fragrance,” said Cedella Marley, CEO of Bob Marley group of companies. “We aimed to capture the warmth and joy that remind us of Jamaica, of home. Each scent evokes a unique emotion—from the calm of peace to the brightness of the sun, featuring island notes like mango, basil, hibiscus and cinnamon. It’s a true celebration of our roots, a love letter to our story. I can’t wait to share them with the world.”

Cedella Marley hosted a preview recently in New York City, as pictured in the lead photo.

Upon launch, consumers can purchase the fragrances on the Michael Malul website, Amazon and in major retailers across the US.

Stephen Marley also has a line of CBD products, as reported in Happi.
